Once again we have a clear example that pirates are better than you. Pirates have the fundamental nature of an internet that is defined by sharing information on their side, which gives them the advantage of always overcoming ignorant attempts at blocking the flow of information. Today, the day before SOPA is to be voted on, we have a handy little firefox add-on called DeSopa which proves once again that legislation attempting to censor the internet only applies everyone except the people it intends to censor.

Long story short, DeSopa is a toggle switch that will let you access a domain URL via the IP address of the site instead, which as you know means that DNS blocking of the URL is useless. While everybody who don’t know better is having a pain in the ass time trying to access My Little Pony memes, pirates and anyone who can do a whois by domain name to get a site’s IP address will continue using the internet as usual.

Why use this?
Let’s say you live in a country where the government is mostly run by coin-operated MAFIAA bots.
Suppose, through some fluke, a bill is passed to allow this government to blacklist websites on a whim. Suddenly, you find that you can no longer view some of your favorite sites. Or worse… you find that your own site has been blacklisted for excess badassery!

What do you do hot shot!? What… do… you… do?

This is what you do (or tweet out to your visitors):

1. Go to your router’s admin settings by entering the internal IP in your browser.
2. Copy your router’s current DNS settings (in case of fail, break glass) and replace with 91.191.136.152 and 85.229.85.109
3. Visit http://dns.tcx/ to confirm that you are now using the Telecomix DNS. You may need to reboot first.
4. Commence with uncensored fapping.

That’s right! You will now have access to TLD that you couldn’t reach before.
